Jackie Gets a Hollywood Smile

Category: Beauty Date: 01/18/2008

I've always been proud of the fact that I've never had a cavity and my teeth are perfectly straight, but I've lived with Tetracycline teeth my entire life. I've spent literally thousands of dollars trying to whiten my teeth only to have them revert back to their gray color about an hour later. Tetracycline is an antibiotic drug used to treat infection. The discoloration can appear if it's taken when the teeth are forming, or even if it's taken by a pregnant woman, the child can end up with Tetracycline teeth. Apparently, the telltale discoloration makes it easy for dentists to diagnose. Every dentist I've ever seen has said, "Oh, you have Tetracycline teeth," the minute I'd open my mouth.

I finally decided to do something about it. I found a wonderful dentist in Tampa, Dr. Dana at Carrollwood Dental Spa and she transformed my smile into a Hollywood, mega-watt smile (click on "Photos" from the home page). Dr. Dana's office is no ordinary dental office. It's a dental spa, so instead of getting those jitters when you enter, you're treated to candlelight, aromatherapy and a parrafin wax dip for your hands. Even the dental chair is no ordinary chair - it's a massage chair that really helps you to forget where you are.

This was one of the easiest Aging Backwards procedures I've ever done. On the first visit, Dr. Dana met with me to determine whether I was a candidate for Lumineers (I was) and to decide how many I would need, what shade I'd like, etc. Then she took tray impressions of my teeth and that was it!

A couple of weeks later I came back for my second appointment and Dr. Dana cemented on the gorgeous Lumineers - easy. The very next day, I was asked for I.D. to buy wine! That hasn't happened in a while...
