LifeTwo's "How to be Happy" week

Category: General Date: 09/24/2007

LifeTwo is featuring seven days of improved happiness based on the work of Harvard Professor Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar and his book "Happier." Dr. Ben-Shahar teaches Harvard's most popular class - positive psychology. The week will end with an extensive Podcast interview with Dr. Ben-Shahar. Authors and columnists from related fields are participating including Penelope Trunk, Jed Diamond, Gretchen Rubin and me, so check out Aging Backwards Tuesday Tips: Get Happy!

The underlying premise of positive psychology and of LifeTwo's "How to be Happy" week is that you can learn to be happier just as you can learn a foreign language or to be proficient at golf. The best way to master such activities is to have an expert instruct you and then for you to regularly practice what you're taught until it becomes second nature. Each day of the "How to be Happy" week focuses on a different aspect of happiness and includes a lesson and two quick exercises.

LifeTwo focuses on all aspects of midlife challenges, from midlife crisis to midlife career change. Upon reviewing comments left on articles and emails to the editor, LifeTwo realized that they needed to do something much more than just an article or a book review on happiness. Nothing short of a dedicated week of information and instruction was called for. Hence, a week of "How to be Happy."
